The Spinnaker team leaders

Martin Sweet, Spinnaker's Development Director, has worked for Spinnaker since its early days. He leads and inspires Spinnaker's team of workers, and has helped build Spinnaker's reputation in schools. He loves to inspire children to think about and react to Bible stories, and consider how Christian faith can relate to life today.

He encourages churches to get involved with their local school, and is keen to assist schools to make creative use of the RE syllabus, and visits to places of worship.

Martin also serves on the SACRE ( Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education) for both Southwark and Bromley local authorities, and is a member of the Free Church Federal Council Education Committee.

Steve Palmer is Spinnaker's Operation Manager. He co-ordinates Spinnaker's schools work.

He helps prepare resources for the workers to use in school, liaises with the schools team leaders, and mentors new staff as they start visiting schools.

A qualified teacher, his creative ideas, and musical skills are much appreciated in schools.

Gwen Kearley leads the schools team in Lambeth Wandsworth and Southwark, meeting the workers regularly to encourage and assist them.

A former Primary school teacher, she divides her time between visiting schools taking assemblies and RE lessons, and also acting as Children's Minister for her church.

She has been going to some schools for many years, and has become a much loved support to headteachers and staff.

Glenis Ruston leads the Bromley schools team, and is an elder in her church.

She has responsibility for planning regular training events for Spinnaker staff, to which a network of other local schools workers are also invited.

Caroline Bailey leads Spinnaker's Creative Arts work. A qualified music teacher, she has also had dance training.

Caroline has developed a number of dance, drama, music and art projects for primary schools, based on Christian themes. These can be one-off activities, or schemes of work spread over half a term. She involves people with varied artistic skills, and also teams of volunteers, to run the projects, which are very much appreciated by schools.
